I was recently approached by the guys from Shine2010 to enter a blogging competition. The prize up for grabs is a very slick Fooseball table from the guys at Foozi and all I need to do is write an article about the 2010 World Cup and then rely on voters to get me the prize.

I have however come up with a slight twist to the competition. You see, I already own a fooseball table and even though this one is WAY cooler, I think that it would be a lot more appropriate if I auctioned this Foozeball table off and donate all the proceeds to a soccer club for kids that is in need of gear.
I have not had time to find such a soccer club, so I welcome recommendations.
Now, I would like to humbly request, that you help me help others and vote for my article.
- Simply click on the vote button below and you will be redirected to a copy of the article that I have submitted for the competition.
- On the right-hand side of the page, you will find a Poll.
- Place your votes within the Poll. My article is listed as “Proudly South African – 2010 World Cup!“

I started blogging less than a year ago when I was inspired by my good mate ChrisM who runs iMod when he won an SA Blog Award.
My blog and I have been through a lot this last year and seen its ups and downs, but one thing remained constant, my determination to get to the SA Blog Awards and win!

Thanks to so many of my loyal supporters, I have been nominated in TWO categories in the 2009 SA Blog Awards: Best New Blog and Best Science & Technology Blog. I am eternally grateful for so many who have thought that I deserve to compete on this level and I am VERY proud of my blog.
The final round of the competition is a numbers game and the most votes comes out the victor and again I will not be able to win this without the support of my ardents readers and supporters.
Please vote for me in both these categories by following these steps:
- Visit the SA Blog Awards Site
- Select DChetty.co.za under the Best New Blog and the Best Science & Technology sections
- Enter you email address and submit
- Confirm your nomination by clicking on the link in your email account.
Its that simple!
Some of my other work in the last year has seen me feature on the Mail & Gaurdian owned blog called Techleader with my article titled, ” The Future of the Web is Contextual!”
and my recent article on MoralFibre where I reviewed a coffee shop.

The 2009 South African election campaigning has begun and while many campaign tactics and strategies have been questioned, one can not help but be amused at the finger pointing and party slander that has began.
I do not have the exact words of the 4 foot Cape Town Mayor with the annoying voice, but it went along lines of, “Every time Julius Malema opens his mouth, the DA gets more votes!”. I have to give her credit for her snappiness with that comment!

It will be interesting to see exactly how dirty this elections get and I for one am particularly excited to see the adoption of American campaigning strategies that have started to emerge. I am focussed on the use of technology, the mannerisms in which they sell their policies and the adaptability of the American approach to the local environment.
PS. If you have not registered to vote, DON’T COMPLAIN!

The SA Blog Awards has opened for 2009. This year, I am hoping that I could win in the categories “Best New Blog” and maybe in the “Best Science and Technology” and I certainly won’t be able to pull it off without the help of you, my readers and ardent supporters!
It would be the first time that I take part in the competition and I doubt that there exists any greater achievement for my blog at this stage of its short life.
This year the process has been streamlined, allowing for a simple nomination and voting process. Simply click on the link for the SA Blog Awards and my nomination should be pre-populated for the “Best New Blog” and the “Best Science and Technology Blog”. Fill in a few other categories if you can. Fill in your valid email address at the bottom of the page and hit submit.

You will be sent a link via email to confirm your vote. All you need to do is click on the link and your votes will be submitted.

The whole process takes 1 month. 2 weeks for nominations which will require 1 round of voting followed by a second 2 week run of the final round of voting. The entire process is public driven, so every vote helps.
