2009 Ford Focus RS!
The car above went on show earlier this year at the British Motor Show as a concept. Dubbed the Ford Focus RS, it’s basically a reworked Ford Focus ST with a new suspension system and an overhauled version of the 2.5litre turbocharged that pumps out 300bhp.
Its a front-wheel drive though, so it’s not THAT wow, but a 300bhp engine is enough to rip through a Mitsibushi Evo and there are no official specs for this beast out yet, but I’ll bet that it pulls through the sub 6sec category on a 0-100km/h sprint. Ford tends to stop the fun at 250km/h though in most of their cars, but they MIGHT wanna go all the way and take the Focus RS to market uncapped.
Check out the lil video for more visuals of the car:

December 12, 2008 at 1:55 amFront wheel drive is the biggest issue with this car. It's going to pull in every direction but straight due to torque steer. I'm thinking a 4-wheel drive option is better. Can I also have a blogroll link?

December 12, 2008 at 3:45 am@Bruce - Thanks for pulling in. your link is up mate! @saulk - Your link is up yonks ago mate! I'm an avid reader of your blog... when you post stuff that is ;) @Goblin - You right! the design is a bit TOO boy-racer. A bit of refinement is needed! @ChrisM - I'd suggest you hold onto your ST till this thing arrives. If you gonna go big, you might as well go LARGE! ;)

December 14, 2008 at 7:49 pmOh my gosh! What an awesome little stab into the performance coupe market. Now if Ford sold this kind of stuff in the US and Europe instead of being an "overseas only" model, they'd be f'n rich.

January 21, 2009 at 12:33 pmThey were thinking about going all wheel drive but they had there reasons not too.The Focus will keep its front wheel drive system but will receive a Quaife Automatic Torque Biasing limited-slip differential and the brand-new “RevoKnuckle”, a new front suspension system to avoid torque steer.

January 22, 2009 at 2:27 amHi Grant, I appreciate the input! I could be wrong when I assume that by going all wheel drive, the centre of gravity would have been put off far too much and would also take away alot of the fun of driving a hot hatch!

April 9, 2009 at 12:10 amIt's a shame they are not bringing this car to SA. After being out sprinted by an R32 the other day I really would have loved to swap my ST for this baby. Talk about stupid reasons for not bringing it to ZA....limited availability and QUALITY of fuel? Excuse me...SA has Ferrari's and Porches that use our fuel; can't tell me a humble RS can't use fuel that is used by those cars.

June 15, 2009 at 11:55 amPity it's a Ford, all this is doing is encouraging a whole new breed of XR6/8 drivers who's kids will be embarrassed as they look at family pictures in 20 years time

August 21, 2009 at 12:30 pm@SaulK "torque steer" Have you seen it in action? This car is useless.

August 25, 2009 at 6:38 am@bmw I've seen torque steer in action, nasty! Opel and Ford tend to bump up the power but keep the FWD layout. VW and Audi thankfully move their cars to quattro/haldex when the power output requires. BMW - RWD thus no problems when they up the power, the ECU sorts it all out
