All cellphones to get a universal charger!

I tend to follow the mobile scene pretty closely and with the rate of handset releases increasing as fast Julius Malame runs his mouth with the kind of idiocy that made Mugabe famous, it always seemed pretty daunting for hardware vendors to keep up with spares and just keeping track of cellphone chargers in my house is quite a task.

Theres Motorola’s, Samsung’s, Sony Ericsonn’s and a few Nokia‘s, each with their own chargers and its flippant annoying keeping up. Anyway, the fab news is that at the World Mobile Congress currently under way in Barcelona, all the chaps got together, shook hands and then decided that it would just make life sooo much easier for EVERYONE, if they all had the same charger!

Reduction of costs, convienence, less pain in the ass when you get a flat battery and left your charger at home, simplicity and being environmentaly friendly have been cited as the reasoning behind the handshake. I’m just grateful that this could help get rid of those pesky fools at traffic lights who try selling me cellphone chargers at every intersection.

I'm pretty excited about it too. Considering that people change their cellphones at a rate of 1 every 18 months on average, it won't take long for this to infiltrate the systems.
