The rumour mill has been rife with reports of Sony and Ericsson parting ways, though the company bosses have done a good job of taming the media with their denials.

But now, more than ever, it looks as though the split is not too far away as Sony looks to own a full stake of the company and Ericsson looks to take its investment cash and go somewhere else.

Will this benefit the company and will this allow Sony the freedom to develop handsets with features that have wowed the world, much like its Bravia range of TV’s, the Walkman, the Playstation, etc?

Infact, could this mean afully fledged gaming device in the form of a PSP mobile device soon?

Only time will tell!

I've always felt Sony's merger with Ericsson just to get into the mobile market was maybe one of their dumbest moves. They could have penetrated the market on their own and their phones would have been 100 times better. It can only mean much better things for them in the future and it might mean I might even consider one of their mobile phones. I don't like ANY of the Sony/Ericsson phones on the market at the moment.

I have two ways about it: Ericsson made shitty phones. And I don't know if they will be able to succeed on there own again.. Sony Ericsson made some of the mmost exciting phones in a long time - escpessially the Walkman and Cybershot range.. Wait, those are both Sony products. Ericsson is screwed.
