Old Audi Logo:

New Audi Logo: Yup, its new, I promise…

It took me a while to notice the subtle differences, which lay mainly with the slight change in font and the newer bolder 3D rings. Otherwise, to the man on the street, its the same. One need to ask though, why bother?

A more simple font, like this, is very much the trend. Compare this font to Pick 'n Pay's new font. I presume this redesign goes further than just the logo and probably affects all marketing and published material. I'm all for rather understating a change rather than overstating it.

How could you not have put the old logo into your post?

@Francois Botha - I agree that subtlty is important, though you must consider the cost to undergo a brand id change, especially during these times of cash flow strains on car manufacturers internationally. @Chris M - Cntrl + F5 dude...

@Chris M - yeah, the old font was a lot better. It seems as if the new font is straight out of MS Office 2007 and lacks creativity. The new rings are classy though!

Ah yes, the logo was redesigned by the same team who designs their cars. Take the existing shape, tweak it slightly and then call it new. But at least the font looks a lot better. :)

@Johann du Plessis - I think that the new A4 vs the old one (B8 vs B7) is quite a change. Very little on exterior design has been carried over on the design, in fact... nothing has been carried over. Interior spec is a different story altogether, there have been minor edits to the old layout, else its very much been the same since the B6. I'm not a fan of the new font, its way too generic for my liking actually.

ChrisM, that was exactly what I was going to say. I'm hating the new font, but the revised 3D looks better
