The Cape Town tech job scene has been exploding recently with some pretty cool jobs hitting the market. This is exciting for a lot of us, because of the usual tendency for all the cool jobs to be up in Jozi.

Brand Manager – Above The Line

Main purpose of the Job

The Connect division in Cape Town currently has a vacancy for an ATL Brand Manager, who, reporting to the Marketing Manager, will be responsible and accountable for developing and managing all ATL marketing communication for MWEB through strategic marketing practices to improve the brand presence and increase in sales.

Job Outputs
  • Maintain MWEB’s position as the leading ISP in South Africa using all advertising techniques at your disposal
  • Work in partnership with creative and media buying agencies to devise and execute ATL media plans in order to reach business targets
  • Successfully manage budget for ATL, including regular reconciliations of ongoing costs against budget
  • Manage approval process for ad campaigns and ensuring they are compliant
  • Ensure cutting edge creativity to maintain brand positioning
  • Manage key relationships
  • Develop and maintain relationships with all internal and external agencies
  • Be aware of and comply on an ongoing basis with the rules and requirements of the CPA, ASA and any other legal / regulatory / risk management frameworks
  • Excellent command of the English language
  • Strategic thinker

Qualifications and Experience

  • 3 year qualification – Marketing Degree or Diploma
  • Excellent communication skills at all levels
  • Highly computer literate
  • Previous experience in Internet and / or Marketing department in an ATL role
  • At least 5+ years experience in an ATL environment, of which 3 years are of a Brand Manager’s role
  • Experience working in a corporate marketing environment
  • Previous experience working with advertising agencies including media
  • Knowledge of ATL media and creative development processes
  • Experience of managing ATL campaigns
  • Experience of working with external media and creative agencies as well as the ability to drive the very best results from these partners
  • Experience of managing significant budgets

Brand Manager – Senior CRM

Main purpose of the Job

The Connect division centred in Cape Town currently has a vacancy for a Senior CRM Brand Manager who, reporting to the Marketing Manager, will be responsible and accountable to prepare and oversee all CRM and specifically all communications to the Connect base.

Job Outputs
  • Help achieve churn and up sell targets through developing comprehensive CRM plans / activities for Dial-up, ADSL, Wireless and SOHO / SME bases
  • Oversee and initiate communications to the base to fulfil MWEB’s objectives
  • Set the CRM strategy for MWEB’s base
  • Plan and implement the Retention strategy (e-mails, direct mails, SMS’s and any vehicle used for CRM) within budget
  • Build and implement a customer journey plan
  • Successfully launch new products to the base
  • Increase revenue per user and continually promote value added services
  • Reward loyal customers through special offers
  • Ensure cutting edge creativity to maintain brand positioning
  • Knowledge and experience in research
  • Work with data analyst to understand behavioural patterns of MWEB base
  • Control segmentation of base

Product Manager

Main purpose of the Job

The Connect division in Cape Town currently has vacancies for Product Managers who, reporting to the Head of Products, will be accountable for managing the lifecycle of technology based products.

Job Outputs
  • Craft and execute portfolio strategy within directives provided by Exco
  • Act as the business owner for MWEB Connect products and services, which may be under development, in use undergoing extension or re-development
  • Responsible for business and product feasibility in relation to business modelling, forecasting sales potential, costing models and target market assessments
  • Project revenue and expense targets per product line on a weekly, monthly and annual basis to manage these products and achieve revenue targets
  • Serve as an internal and external promoter to MWEB Connect products and services

Skills and Competencies

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Must be able to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Show an aptitude for problem analysis and resolution
  • Strong negotiation and analytical skills

Qualifications and Experience

  • Degree in commercial or technical field
  • Sound knowledge of Internet Service Provider and Mobile products and services
  • Good working knowledge of MS Office, MS Project and MS Visio
  • At least 2 to 3 years experience in a product management, ISP or telecommunications industry or alternatively 3 to 4 years experience in a marketing/sales technology based environment
  • Proven experience with presentations to senior management and external stakeholders
  • Previous experience in product implementation
