This is a very simple tip that would seem like an easy task, but at first glance is quite a tricky thing to figure out on your own if you are new to the Apple iPhone.

When you receive a call, you may MUTE the call, by pressing the button on the top of the iPhone just once.
To REJECT the call and divert the call straight to voicemail, press the button on the top of the iPhone twice in fairly quick succession.

If you have any other iPhone tips, please let me know!

Been using this for a couple months now, the thing I was though is that when you double click, it would carry on ringing for the person calling and then go to voicemail, rather than letting them know you've pushed them through ;)
