The camera also comes packed with a built-in xenon flash, a mechanical shutter and even a tripod mount using an accessory called the Nokia Camera Grip. Using Nokia’s PureView HD technology and coupled with Carl Zeiss hardware, I’d be hard-pressed to find any camera on a smartphone anywhere that could even attempt to play in the same ballpark.

I have to admit, the Lumia design has evolved and the curved Gorilla Glass makes the Nokia Lumia 1020 an incredibly good looking phone and of course running Windows Mobile 8 as the operating system, it’s certainly a pretty interface and it’s simplicity in design makes it a very attractive device to own and use. I’d definitely recommend that if you owned one of these puppies, you get it covered as part of your portable possession  insurance.

The instructions are simple, use the USB cable to plug your Lumia device into your PC or laptop. Start up the Zune application and follow the on-screen prompts.

The Google Maps app, syncs with your Google account, allowing for seamless maps search history sharing between your desktop and other devices and the app. Offering free live traffic data and voice-guided turn-by-turn directions and best of all, the mobile app supports Streetview, Google Maps definitely shines as the best free mapping app for the iPhone once again. If you’re a developer, Google has also announced that they have concurrently launched the Google Maps SDK for iOS to allow you to integrate Google Maps into your apps, here’s the Google Maps for iPhone SDK Documentation.

It’s beautiful car to look at, it’s quite a big heavy car, so the doors are heavy and the leather feels like it came from well-fed cows, the carpets offer a similar plushness as to carpets found in extremely expensive hotels and the power… well… let’s just say that it is undoubtedly the most brutally powerful car that I’ve ever driven.

It’s top speed is limited to 250km/h and launches from standstill to 100km/h in under 4.9 seconds using 510hp with an incredible torque reading of 625Nm developed from its 5.0l Supercharged engine. This power while impressive among other luxury sedans, it’s performance is also comparable to sportcars, with t being quicker than most Porsche’s, which makes this feat even more impressive due to the fact that it is a long-wheelbased hotel room.

What I liked:

The gadgets: This car is full of them. Wireless headphones in the rear for each TV screen, hard-drive powered media centres, dual sectional sunroof, rear motorised sun visors on all windows, heated & cooled adjustable seats in the front and rear, multiple USB ports, table tops in the rear which is appropriate for documents and laptops. This list can go on.

The luxury: Soft leather seats, solid wood panelling, leather dashboard and door linings, super-soft plush carpets with foot rests for rear passengers, massage features on all seats and the mega-multifunctional steering wheel.

The look: the design of the XJ series is incredibly seductive with its large swooping roof line and soft curves on the rear, but maintains its aggressive design heritage with its flat front diamond grill and 20″ wheels.

What I don’t like:

The price: After driving this car for a week, it was incredibly difficult to give it back and I’ve wanted one since. The only catch to getting one of these puppies is that it costs a staggering R1.8million excluding extras.

OneWebDay is an annual celebration of the internet held usually on September 22nd.

The guys at Intel decided to take things a bit further this year and have selected a few countries where they will be giving away their latest Ultrabook* devices to random people within these countries. This year, South Africa made the cut as one of these countries, along with Germany. Spain and Russia, becse of our love for the internet and because South African’s have stepped up their love for a digitally connected lifestyle.

With Intel’s portfolio now spanning across devices such as laptops, servers, PCs, smart phones, etc, it makes sense for them to support the OneWebDay campaign as many of their devices already leverage the internet and support some sort of data-enabled service.

*What is an Ultrabook?

It is available as an over the air update for users of iOS5 and above. The total file size is about 600MB depending on which device you will be updating and if you are on a 3G data bundle it is exceptionally expensive to this via 3G.

Once you have downloaded the file, in order to install it, you will need the latest version of iTunes.

Don’t forget to do a full backup of your device before updating to iOS6, as you do this update completely at your own risk.

This usually happens when price drops are being implemented and when new products are being launched. My guess is that iPhone and iPod prices are being reworked in anticipation for the announcement of new devices early in September this year.
