Nandos do good with their Souperstars campaign with Cheesekids!

With Mandela Day just past, it’s made me realise that even though SA has its fair share of problems, it is an absolute honour to live among so many who care and among so many who are willing to make an effort to make it better. The Nandos Souperstars campaign saw 800 people volunteer in 4 different locations across the country to help set up soup kitchens.

Nando’s, often setting the standard for companies with a sense of humour (along with kulula) has proven that they are more human than most brands in SA and doing job at keeping it real.

In true kulula style, when it was time to celebrate the arrival of its newest plane, they came up with one of the coolest campaigns I’ve seen in SA in years.

Watch the video of what happened when they decided to surprise their “guests” at their inaugural flight.

The campaign managed to trend in SA within an hour of the surprised guests landing in Cape Town, which is pretty awesome. kulula proving once again that it is possible for brands to have a sense of humour.

Nando’s Last Dictator Standing ad!

Nando’s “Last Dictator Standing” has been a brilliantly successful campaign from the Peri-Peri Chicken brand. The video has successfully managed to score posts from Huffington Post and TIME.com.

Samsung Galaxy S2 ad campaign mocks iPhone 4S!

Samsung has launched an attack campaign on Apple with their latest mock advert which does not explicitly mention the iPhone 4S, but does a good job of ripping Apple fanboys.

I must admit, even though I’m a huge Apple fan, I quite like the ad from Samsung.

Nando’s try to make “Speedchicken”!

This is Nando’s latest advert.

It is a response to a letter sent from Cell C’s CEO to Nando’s making reference to Nando’s coming out with a product called “Speedchicken” after Nando’s advert directly knocked the Cell C rebranding. Cell C’s latest offering of “4G” super fast wireless data is called “SpeedStick”.

Nando’s is renown for brilliantly timed ads that are shameless targetted at current affairs with a sense of humour and boldness that is unchallenged in the world of advertising. This is the latest TV ad that takes a direct swing at Cell C and Trevor Noah’s “CEO” campaign and I think that its another brilliant ad by my favourite fast-food outlet.
